Heavy Equipment Operator (OGDEN)
Position Description
SALARY/ PAY: $25.00 - $29.00 HOURLY (Wage determined by experience verified by references and
upon completion of interview).
REPORTS
TO: Project Manager, Jobsite Foreman, & Office Management.
SUMMARY/ ESSENTIAL
FUNCTIONS
(Heavy
Equipment Operator role, mainly but not limited to;)
The Heavy
Equipment Operator position reports directly to the Jobsite Foreman and Project
Manager daily.
• A Heavy
Equipment Operator is responsible for operating heavy machinery such as loaders
and excavators while supporting a pipe crew and/or miscellaneous grading and
earthwork projects.
• Candidate is expected
to communicate with the jobsite foreman, crews, and project manager to carry
out tasks on the job and ensure jobsite safety of each individual working.
• At the
beginning of each day the Heavy Equipment Operator is expected to inspect
equipment and ensure it is in good working condition and safe to run. While
also ensuring the cleanliness and maintenance of company provided vehicle,
and/or equipment.
• An ideal
candidate has familiarity with “Blue Stakes” & what the various colored
markings are for each utility.
REQUIRED
SKILLS
•
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and
memos.
• Ability
to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed, but uninvolved
written or oral instructions.
• Ability
to read, understand, and interpret plans / blueprints.
• Ability
to safely operate all types of heavy equipment used on jobsites.
• Must be
literate with smart phones & tablets as they are used for clocking in, and
out each day.

EXPERIENCE
• Must have
a minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in operating heavy machinery (excavator,
loader, etc.)
• Must have
a minimum of 1 year experience in grading, earthwork, and/or underground
utility construction.
PHYSICAL/
ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS
•
Ability to lift at least 50 lbs. continuously throughout the day.
•
Competency and awareness of surroundings to identify safety hazards.
• Employee
is regularly required to sit, climb, talk, hear, and use fingers.
• Exposure
to hot outdoor temperatures for up to 10 hours a day, along with direct
sunlight.
• Exposure
to cold weather and snowy conditions in the winter months.
EXPECTATIONS
This is a FULL-TIME position. Working hours will vary
depending on the season, job site, and demand of work. Overtime is required and
varies depending on the demand of work. Attendance is an essential function of
this job. A successful candidate will have reliable transportation to and
from the jobsite daily.
